​​In 2004, BBC confirmed their interest in moving certain broadcast operations to MediaCityUK, a 200-acre site located at Salford Quays on the banks of the Manchester Ship Canal. At present BBC Sport has relocated to the new media centre and is benefiting from the most advanced digital broadcast and media technology.
